Transforming young lives in Nepal BMS Mission Projects Education ministries

Welcome to Nepal!

A land of mountains and vibrant colours, Nepal is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. However, it remains one of the poorest countries in Asia, and millions of people were affected by the 2015 earthquakes.

Why is Nepali education failing its young people? Many Nepali teachers have no formal training, and those who do only have it to primary-school level. Rote-learning is the dominant teaching method in Nepal, but it is ineffective outside of exams. As a result, Nepali children do not know how to problem-solve or think critically. Asha, a Nepali teacher

What is BMS doing? Transforming children’s education in Nepal starts with the teachers. BMS training will encourage, support and equip Nepali teachers with modern methods of teaching, moving away from rote-learning.

BMS is also developing an ICT curriculum – teaching a vital skill for the 21st century. With improved education, Nepali children will have new opportunities open to them and escape poverty. BMS is also working with the local government, to transform teaching culture in Nepal.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29: 11

Please pray for and support Nepali teachers Pray for the teachers as they implement their new skills. Praise God for Nepali schoolchildren, and pray that they embrace the new opportunities open to them. Pray for the BMS team as they equip Nepali teachers and rural schools.
