Modification Overview Production of the ½ -2” 4A series began in 2008. A lead free version (4ALF) was introduced in 2011.

Check Cover Removal Cover is threaded into body and o-ring sealed. Cover has no spring load.

Check Valve Removal Check valve modules. Modules are sealed by an o-ring. Rock the module back and forth while pulling outward.

Disassemble Check Valve Check modules are spring loaded. Holding the module firmly, push down and turn the spring retainer 90 degrees in either direction.

Check Disc Replacement Remove screw and disc washer from poppet.

Check Seat Removal Check seats are part of each module. Once the check has been disassembled the seat is free.

Check Valve Reassembly Notes Make sure spring retainer is in position over the spring. Push the spring retainer down into the grooves of the seat and turn 90 degrees. The spring retainer should pop up and lock into the lugs on the seat.

RV Cover Removal RV cover is sealed by the diaphragm. There is no spring load on the cover.

RV Module Removal Remove outer diaphragm. Module is o-ring sealed. Pull module straight out of the body.

RV Seat Removal The RV seat is o-ring sealed. Pull the seat straight out of the body.

RV Disc Replacement The RV disc is free once the retaining screw is removed. Note: 11/4”-2” sizes will also utilize a retaining washer.

Disassemble RV Module Module is spring loaded. Holding the diaphragm plate firmly, remove the retaining screw.

Disassemble RV Module Remove the bushing from the stem. Remove the stem o-ring.

RV Reassembly Notes Replace and lubricate o-rings. Reassemble in reverse order. Push module straight into body. Make sure diaphragm does not cover hole for sensing line.
