Proposal Structure I. Introduction Hook Define problem Specific Case History Who is affected? How? Thesis statement defines solution for reader. II. Example Problem Further (1-2 Paragraphs) Examine problem thoroughly in social context. Show the readers the magnitude of he problem Remind readers what you did III. Explain Alternative Solutions (What have others tried), (2-3 Paragraphs) Explain full process and results of alternatives in detail Refutation: Explain ineffectiveness of this solution – or why your solution is better. Repeat these two steps as needed. IV. Present Your Solution in Detail (2-4 Paragraphs) Define your own solution in detail. This should be a step-by-step explanation Explain the benefits of your solution. You can certainly integrate alternative solutions into your own solution. V. Conclusion Restate severity of problem Restate weaknesses of alternative solutions. Restate your solution and remind readers how it might change the problem.
