Cochlear Implantation (CI) in Bahrain
Objective and Design To assess the service provided by the CI team in Salmaniya Medical Complex - Kingdom of Bahrain for all pts between 2001-2016. Pts were analysed by gender, etiology and duration of deafness, age at time of surgery, site and type of implant used, unilateral vs bilateral surgery, post op care, and complications.
Pre-op Evaluation
Post-op Care Programming performed 4-6 weeks after surgery. Rehabilitation was provided for periods of 1-2 years in specialized centers.

Conclusion Cochlear Implantation has made a difference in the life of these patients, in which hearing restoration was achieved in all the cases with minimal complications.
