Taking a Test Checklist Read and follow all the rules/directions Read all the questions before you start Start with questions you know the answer to Make brief notes/put down what you do know Save time for essays Organize open-ended questions and essays before writing Use terms from the course Always aim for partial credit if time runs out

Memory

High School VS College Exams Teacher expects you to read book on your own AND know what is discussed in class – up to you to find answers to questions Professor expects learning outside of the classroom Covers large amount of material – equivalent to high school final exam Have to remember test dates on your own Professors have no awareness of expectations for your other classes You are responsible for blue book, etc. You MUST get there on time or you could not be allowed to take the test High School Teacher provides reminders, study guide, and review session More of the teacher’s responsibility to make sure you initially know/understand the info Covers small amount of material (1 chapter) All friends have the same tests at the same time Teachers communicate to try to not schedule tests on the same days Teacher provides everything needed to take test (resources) You are already on campus so getting to test is no problem Have more tests so each one counts less in final grade
