DEMAND DRIVEN WORKFORCE SYSTEM: THE TRANSFORMATION Indiana Department of Workforce Development is shifting its focus to a Demand Driven Workforce System. A Demand Driven system considers the job demand and the associated skills needed to fill that demand. It provides the necessary resources to education and training providers, students and other potential employees, employers, Department of Workforce Development staff and providers to improve systems and programs to best prepare the Indiana workforce to obtain realistic, sustainable employment. The Demand Driven Workforce System is both a technology solution and a transformation of how the system considers data and as a result, how all workforce serving agencies serve their clients. The right skills, at the right time, in the right way.

SKILLS Improved Identification of Indiana Skills in Demand O*NET & In order to accurately identify the skills needed by today’s workforce, multiple sources of information need to be considered. The O*NET database serves as a good starting point for identifying skills needed for each occupation. Indiana Department of Workforce Development is interested in going to the extra step of understanding what skills might be in demand today as well as which skill sets are becoming increasingly necessary for particular jobs.
