MLA Board Members John Tyler, President Michael Casanova, V. President Frank Spahn, Treasurer CoCo Duckstad, Secretary Dave Jackett Dan Dorst Pete Iversen (running again) Bob Shurson (running again) Kevin Persinger Cheri Nehl – Webmaster. Non-Board member. * We will be electing board members to fill open positions later this evening.

MLA Board Opportunities 2 Open Board Member Positions If you are interested in a position on the Board of Directors, give your name to Carol Duckstad before 8:00 tonight. Board member roles: 3 year term, 4 meetings min /year Support MLA activities Interface with partners (EP/WD District) Good opportunity to get involved Chairman: Before any organization can have a formalized meeting, it is necessary to have individuals who will act as the chair, secretary, parliamentarian, treasurer and tellers—if a paper ballot is needed. As we are not officially organized the steering committee accepted this responsibility and appointments to fill these positions were made.

Background Information Steering Committee had its first meeting in March, 2006 and the association was officially founded in September, 2006. MLA is now 10 years old with 100+ members Formed partnerships with: Citizens/property owners (Lakeshore Res, etc) Watershed District City of Eden Prairie (Education/Rain Gardens)

Background Information Set an overall goal to achieve a grade level of B from a current grade of D+ as determined by the Met Council in ten years Key components that determines the grade: Levels of Phosphorous Levels of Chlorophyll Sechie Disk (water clarity)

Accomplishments Sponsored 1 - 10th annual Lakeshore Cleanup & Picnics in April Great turnouts all! – Thanks to all Volunteers! 7

Accomplishments DNR Grant of $33,000 awarded for lakeshore restoration: fifth and final project completed: ~1,000 feet of lakeshore restored Zero cost to Mitchell Lake and the Watershed District

Accomplishments Communication: Annual newsletters created and distributed Annual meeting (tonight) Website maintained (http://www.mitchelllake.org) 9

Accomplishments Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Boat Inspections began this on area lakes including Mitchell Lake in 2013: $s for Mitchell Lake a direct result of Mitchell Lake Association initiative $12.5K for part time inspection to continue in 2017 from City of EP Annual Herbicide Treatments expected to continue Possible weed harvesting as needed
