Real Name Mark Twain’s real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemons. He was born in 1835. He was born the year Hailey’s Comet soared through the sky. He grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. “Tom Sawyer” was written in 1876. Mark Twain died in 1910, the second time Hailey’s Comet blazed through the sky.
