This Month in Ms. Illa’s Class Important Events Month of September Hello Preschool Families! I cannot believe we are already starting our second week of September! It has been great having all the student’s back in the classroom and getting to know our new friends who just started with us this year. I just wanted to take this time and let you all know how these last 3 weeks have been going. We are off to an awesome start with jumping back in and learning our classroom routine’s, as well as starting on our academic centers. We are continuing to use our task books in the morning, which has the kiddo’s practicing their handwriting, cutting, matching, shapes, colors, and letter identification skills. This year we are introducing our new letter and sound program, Jolly Phonics. With this program we will be exposing the students to letters and their sounds and place them alongside music to help them to remember. We will also be working on the formation of our letters and using a lot of hands on activities to assist. Please check out the Jolly Phonics Video on youtube.com so that you can follow along with us and continue to have your child practice at home. So far we are learning “S” and “A”, however for the letter “S”, I did not present the song and changed the picture to a snail because they use a “snake”, and for my families who have religious beliefs about snakes, I did not want to present that. So far this month we have continued with our “Rockin in our School Shoes” theme, where we have been reading a lot of Pete the Cat books and learning about how to act in school, touching on colors, and also counting. School Pictures: Thursday 9/21/17 @ 9am. Only if your student does not come on Thursday’s and Friday’s: please be here at least 5 or 10 minutes before 9am so we can make our time slot, then you are able to take your student home after. Also please be sure to bring your picture day packet, if you are purchasing photos. Snack calendar has begun. Please be sure you are checking when your day is, but if you are unable to make a certain day please let me know.
