Warm-Up 10/2 and 10/3 How could you use the info. in this hillside to determine which species are native (endemic) to this area?

Learning Targets I can explain why the Cascadia subduction zone puts us at risk of a large, imminent earthquake I can use Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning to make a strong explanation.

Building Bridges Wrap-Up What is one creature that moved to North America from South America? When? What is one creature that moved to south America from North America? When? What type of plate boundary helped form the Central American land bridge?

“The Really Big One” Get into a group of 5 Choose a section to read (1-5) Take notes on your section that answer the question at the top of the page Get together and share Write a conclusion using Claim, Evidence, Reasoning

CLEVR CL: Claim Clear, concise statement (if an experiment, tell whether your hypothesis was supported). EV: Evidence 2-3 pieces that support your claim R: Reasoning How the evidence supports your claim

CLEVR Conclusion Example My hypothesis, that Justin Bieber fans would scream loudest because they are more likely to be male and have booming voices, was not supported. Taylor Swift fans were the loudest. My data shows that Taylor Swift fans yelled at a range of 93.4 to 98.9 decibels , while Justin Bieber fans yelled at a range of 87.1-90.3 decibels. An explanation for these results is the make-up of each audience. The average age of Taylor Swift fans was 8.5, while Justin Bieber fans were 13.2. According to my observations of children ages 8-14 at Lake Wilderness Elementary, Tahoma Middle, and Tahoma Junior High Schools, younger children were more excitable and likely to scream. Also, they jumped more often, possibly causing more noise from bouncing on the concrete floor of Key Arena.

Homework Finish “The Really Big One” CLEVR conclusion.
