Welcome to Curriculum Night!

Homework

Reading Your child must read every night to increase stamina, fluency, voice, and comprehension. They have to be ready for next year’s test. Twenty minutes per night is the goal! 4 minutes vs. 20 minutes 20 min/night x 5 days /week x 4 weeks/month x 9 months = 3600 minutes a school year VS. 4 min x 5 days/week x 4 weeks x 9 months = 728 minutes a school year.

SPELLING The newsletter will have the spelling rule for the week along with some words that fit the pattern. Not all words will be given to the student. Websites will have links to spelling city for extra practice Tests will be given on Fridays after skill has been fully taught Tests will include dictation sentences which will be graded for: capital letters, punctuation, spelling words

Math Facts STUDY 10 MINUTES EVERY night. Tested on 20 ADDITION PROBLEMS IN 1 MINUTE 30 Sec. Tested on 20 SUBTRATION PROBLEMS IN 1 MINUTE 30 Sec. 90 or higher to move onto the next fact Level. If your child passes, then next week he/she will be moved up a level Weekly tests will be on thursday! Results will be sent home in the planner’s back pocket on Friday.

Dismissal If students are getting home a different way, please send a note or email the teacher! You can also call to the office. Without these we must send them home their normal way. We dismiss at 3:25 out by the front office under the awning Teachers usually have meetings and tutorials after school so your promptness is much appreciated Students will be seated quietly so that the new Pick up procedure will move as smoothly as possible. For safety, please do not bring pets onto the campus

Dismissal Our goal is to ensure a speedy and safe pickup. Be sure your child’s teacher knows how they are getting home. The teacher has to know the name of your child’s daycare. The first and second lane are for car pickups. Third lane is for parking in the lot. Please be sure to use the crosswalk at all times. If you are a walker and are coming to pickup your child, please wait in the large open area in front of the office. We will send your child to you. A flyer will be sent home this next week.

School Lunch Sending Lunch $ You can input money into your child’s account by going online to www.birdville.K12.tx.us  and go to parents/community. A dropdown bar will come up. Go to meal pay. Eating Lunch with your Child at School Lunch Time 11-11:30 pm

PTA Be sure to join this GREAT organization! Membership ($5.00) and volunteering are 2 different things Being a member gives you a voice in your child’s education and school They help with class parties, special events, and field trips. PTA puts on events such as carnival every year PTA helped raise money for important things like our marquee out front, redecorating the lounge, provide some funds for field trips, and replacing broken seating around campus PTA members get discounts on car rentals and other things Be sure to join this GREAT organization!
