General Rules Attendance Discipline School policy for attendance and tardiness will be followed. (See Handbook) Attendance will be recorded at the beginning of every class period Discipline Conduct I expect: Act Honorably before God and others. Show respect for yourself/others and their property. Show pride in yourself and your school by remaining in appropriate uniform. Speak only at appropriate times using a quiet voice. Keep hands, feet, objects, and hurtful comments to yourself. Follow directions the first time they are given. Be prepared for class and complete assignments on time. 

General Rules Severe clause----referral to Principal office Positive Reinforcement Students who comply with my expectations may receive: Praise Positive notes/call home Special privileges Class tickets In order to be fair, discipline must vary with the severity of the offense. In general, I will be following the discipline plan from the handbook; however, the severe clause may be used for constant expectations violation and/or inappropriate student behavior. Academics Course overview: Science will focus on Science and Engineering Practices and Physical Science Concepts addressed through the Archdiocese Curriculum. Vocabulary, spelling, and writing skills will be addressed through Core Academic Standards. Materials needed for class: (See Materials List, provided on SSM’s website) Agenda to be filled out daily and signed weekly by parent/guardian. One-inch Binder---with five dividers Loose-leaf paper Pens/pencils Sheet Protectors USB Drive--- to store work for class. Any material requested for special project or assignments.

Science Binder Science Binder The Binder has five sections divided with the following labels: Assignments, Dictionary, Notes, Loose Leaf Paper, and a Blank Tab (reserved for projects). Work will be organized in the Science Binder into the appropriate section. Students are responsible for completing and maintaining all assignments in an orderly binder. Parent should initial assignments after reviewing it. Each assignment should have name, class ID, and date written on it. Binder Section should be indicated as well. Science Binder set-up PowerPoint is available at brandiebilyeu.weebly.com or accessed though school website. Requirements will be reviewed throughout year.

Science Binder: Assignment & Dictionary Sections Assignment Section: Assignments will be organized in this section by a given letter and number. Homework, in-class activities, out-of-class projects, in-class projects, labs, and tests/quizzes will be in this section. Dictionary Section: Student-created Dictionary (format discussed in class).

Science Binder: Note Section & Other Sections of Binder Notes given or taken in class are stored in this section. This section is divided by a green paper that separates notes on Science content from Informational Reading Resources on Science content. Loose Leaf Paper Section: Stores a supply of loose leaf paper to use as needed in class. Blank Tab Section: This section is reserved for projects that can be stored in Sheet Protectors.

Science Journal Short, discussions, reflections to demos or assignments that students are to record in their composition book that serves as their Science Journal. Completion is mandatory-students are responsible for getting the entries they missed due to absences. Journal will be completed and graded by discussed format.

Tests/Quizzes & Writing/ Projects Test/Quizzes Test/quizzes are announced well in advance. Tests/ Quizzes may include fill-in-the-the-blank, multiple choice, true/false, short answer, or essay questions. Tests/quizzes will cover material in Science Binder Writing/and Projects Students may have short writing activities or projects over the different science ideas and concepts studied. Rubrics will be used to grade these assignments. The final product may be displayed (or stored in Binder within Sheet Protectors), and the rubric with the grade is given to student for filing in Assignment section of Science Binder.

Technology & Homework Technology : Google Classroom and the Teacher’s website will be used. Personal Electric Devices may be used in class. (in accordance with discussed guidelines). Other technology devices will be used as necessary throughout the year. Homework Review planner and maintain Science Binder and Journal Dictionary Work Working on any upcoming assignment. Homework may be completing an assignment, working on a special project, or studying for test/quiz.

Make Up Work & Grading Make-up Work Grading If a student is absent from class, any make-up assignment must be made up immediately. Absent work should be labeled “Abs.” Students are responsible for getting the assignment from the teacher and completing it. Assignments must be submitted in correct area for grading. Students may submit assignments one day late with a 10%-point deduction and signed MAN slip. Or, they can submit 5 class ticket (staple to assignment or rubric prior to handing in) for no points deducted with signed MAN slip. Work becomes a zero after five days. (See handbook for more details.) It is the students responsible to turn in work on time! Grading Grades will be updated on a regularly basis. Grades will be posted on School grading system. Extra Credit Extra credit will be up to the discretion of the teacher. Extra Help-time Any extra study time given in class should be used.

Class Tickets Class Tickets Class Tickets will be given to students who are caught demonstrating the student honor code. Five class tickets stapled to late assignments/rubrics will not be deducted the 10 %. Class tickets will be used in special drawings. Other ticket usage at teacher discretion.
