Group Task: What should Louis do? You are advisers to Louis XVI. You must help him organise the Estates General. You should give advice on the following issues: Who should be able to vote? 1 vote per head or 1 vote per Estate? Or a different system altogether? 2.Where should the Estates meet? All together in one room, or separately? 3.What issues should be addressed?

QR race – what happened at the Estates General. Around the room there are 5 QR codes. In your groups: *Scan each code to get the question. *Use the information sheets to find the answer. *Write the answer in your books (check them – at each stage with me before moving onto the next code). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mueztN2MoGM

What did Louis do? Read pp. 20-1 & pp. 22-4 in the textbook and answer the following questions: What did Abbe Sieyes claim that the 3rd Estate was? (pg. 21) How did Louis respond to the 3rd Estate’s request for ‘voting by head’? (pg. 21) Was this a good response? (pg. 21) What demands were raised by the 3rd Estate? (pg. 23) How did Louis respond to these demands? (pg. 24)

Where did Louis go wrong with the Estates General?
