1st Academic Conference Academic Coaching 1st Academic Conference

Why? To finalise your three goals and to discuss your progress. To empower your learning To strengthen your relationship with your academic coach and parents/caregivers

1st AC Conference Parents, Student & Academic Coach Thursday 7th April: On this day, periods 1, 2, 3 & 4 timetabled class lessons will run as usual. Students who are staying at school: 1:10-2pm - lunch-time in Moran, Northcote or Citrus Quads. 2pm - go the library, NC2 and NC4 computer rooms or your academic coach may start academic conferencing. Note – buses always run as normal

Before the conference Review your three SMART goals (e-Portfolio) - Junior goals are literacy (English), numeracy (Maths) and learning (Academic Coach) - Senior goals are NCEA Certificate, Course Endorsement and Other. Also, update your Strategic Planners (Google Drive) Discussed your goals with your parents / caregivers and with your academic coach

What happens at the 1st AC Conference? Lead the discussion of your goals with your academic coach. Be sure to use your assessment data (reading, writing, number operations, NCEA internals,…)! Finalise your goals page (Start-of-year section) to confirm your successes with evidence. Please celebrate your successes And learn from your mistakes/failures – always your best teacher! Think and act out your plan.

And after the conference? There has to be some follow-up if you are to get the full benefit from this valuable programme so: Continue to discuss your goals with your parents/caregivers and academic coach on a regular basis. Connect all this with the advice from your subject teachers!

That’s it!
