Organizational Tips for Students:

Identify a work space at home Gather the necessary tools Paper Pencil Adequate lighting Dictionary

Set a study time that generally works in your schedule

Set a daily agenda Helps make tasks routine Include weekly lessons, club meetings, athletic practices, etc.

Decide which homework tasks need to be done: Daily Weekly Monthly

Use an assignment planner or notebook

Color-code notebooks and folders for each subject area Easier to know the right folder or notebook to take to the class

Clear out old papers weekly from: Notebooks Folders Desks Lockers Backpacks

Use a checklist or other graphic organizer Satisfaction in completing a task

Create “To Do Lists” High priority items first Items with longer timelines or less urgency next

Explain your organizational system to a friend or your parent If you can explain the system to someone else, the system is probably working for you.
