Jared Leising Jared Leising has taught English at Cascadia since the school’s inception, been an advisor to the Creative Arts Club, and in 2008 and 2014 was a recipient of Cascadia’s “Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Service” award.  He has served as president of the Washington Community College Humanities Association and on the board of directors for 826 Seattle.  Jared is also the author of a chapbook—The Widows and Orphans of Winesburg, Ohio—and his poems have appeared in various regional publications, as well as on Metro Buses and local radio.  Jared has worked as a writer-in-residence for Ballard and Nathan Hale High Schools, been a nominee for Seattle Poet Populist, curator for the 2010 Jack Straw Writers Program, and a Humanities Scholar for Humanities Washington.  Before moving to Seattle, he received his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Houston.  Currently, Jared is the chair of Cascadia’s Integrated Learning Committee and an advisor to the student Film Club.
