How will I be graded? Weighted Averages Assessment during learning - 25% Independent, Guided or Group Practice - 45% Summative Assessment or Assessment of learning - 30% The EOC is 20% of your final grade at the end of THIS SEMESTER

Notebook/Materials Every student should have a notebook which they will bring daily. All assignments are to be kept in the notebook on loose leaf paper (no spiral paper accepted). A 1 – 1.5 inch binder will suffice. Your binder should contain 5 dividers, labeled. PENCIL

Binder Sections Section 0 (before the first divider): A copy of the class syllabus, class passes, and loose leaf paper. Section 1: Vocabulary Section 2: Class notes and worksheets, in chronological order. Section 3: Homework/Classwork assignments, in chronological order. Section 4: Quizzes/Tests Section 5: Projects

BINDER CHECKS Your binder needs to be: organized with all the papers in the correct sections the papers need to be in chronological order no paper can be in the pockets no work from other classes can be in the binder The first notebook check will be MONDAY for 100 points. Bring all supplies to class and we will organize it together.

Classroom Guidelines Respect your teacher, your classmates, and your classroom. By the time the bell rings, be in your seat with your notebook and homework out. You are to be on task at all times. Remain in your seats until the bell rings. I dismiss you, not the bell. No eating or drinking in class (except water). No headphones, cell phones, or music devices are to be used at any time. They must be out of sight. If they are visible or used during class, they will be confiscated.

If I make a BAD CHOICE 1st Offense: Verbal Warning. 2nd Offense: Student must schedule an appointment to fill out the Student Action Plan with Ms. Gregoire. Parent is contacted. 3rd Offense: Detention with teacher on Friday during lunch or after school. Parent is contacted again. 4th Offense: Administrative Referral. **Severe behavior clause: The teacher reserves the right to go straight to an administrative referral for extreme cases**                         

Cell Phones 1st offense: Verbal warning 2nd offense: Cell phone confiscated and returned at the end of class 3rd offense: Cell phone confiscated and returned at the end of the day 4th offense: Parent contact and administrative referral

Classroom Expectations Arrive on time. Be prepared. Be polite. Be positive. Be responsible for your learning and participate: Ask questions as soon as you do not understand the material. Help a neighbor or a friend when you are able to if they have questions about class material.

Classroom Procedures

Entering the Classroom Enter the classroom quietly Take your assigned seat Get out all necessary materials including homework, notebook and a pencil. Copy the “DO NOW” assignment from the board on your DO NOW SHEET. Work quietly and by yourself. Wait for further instructions from the teacher.

Exiting Classroom Right before the bell rings everyone should be: In assigned seat Quiet Gather all of your materials Clean up area around your desk Wait for me to dismiss the class

Calculators Numbered Calculator goes back in it’s numbered home during the last five minutes of class WITH THE COVER ON

Late Work I go over homework in class so the most you could earn if 50% Week Policy

Getting Your Attention When I need everyone to stop talking and pay attention to me: I will raise my hand. When you see me raise my hand you must: 1.Raise your hand and keep it up until I put mine down. 2.Stop talking and look at me. 3.Wait for me to speak. This procedure should take us no more than 10 seconds.

Absent Buddy On Friday, we will sign up for an Absent Buddy Keep in mind of someone who is dependable and that you can call/text when you are absent to get the assignments

Absent Bin On the bookshelf YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO GET ASSIGNMENTS and make them up

Excused Absence If your ABSENT BUDDY is absent: Compile any worksheets/handouts given out that day during class. Verify with Ms. Gregoire. Put it in the “Absent Bin” for your period.

Excused Absence Continued If YOU have been absent: Look for missed handouts in the ABSENT bin for your class period. Ask another student (your study buddy) what you missed. Follow-up with Ms. Gregoire if necessary. Make arrangements to take quizzes and tests immediately—THE DAY YOU GET BACK.

Tardy Log Starting TOMORROW 1/6 Initial and date when you come in late If you have a pass, just put it in the folder

Excused Tardy 1.Walk in quietly making as little noise as possible. 2.Sign-in at the Tardy Sheet. (Name, date, time) If you have a pass leave it in the folder. 3.Take your assigned seat. 4. Join the activity in progress. If you don’t know what the class is doing raise your hand until the Ms. Gregoire sees you. 5. Continue working (waiting) quietly until I get to your desk.

Unexcused Tardy *If you are UNEXCUSED tardy please take a paragraph and re-write it three times. Please give it to Ms. Gregoire by the end of the NEXT day* Failure to do so, and/or excessive tardiness will result in detention

Bathroom/Locker/Water Breaks Breaks in-between each class… hurry and use the bathroom then! You will not be allowed to go to the restroom/get water during instructional time….DON’T ASK

Hall Passes **HALL PASSES IN PINK BOX** School Policy you may not leave the classroom the first or last five minutes of class You also may not be gone for more than five minutes otherwise you are considered A-WALL
