Mr. Krokos 2nd Grade Welcome Parents!

Welcome to Second Grade! I would like to welcome your child and your family to Second Grade! Second Grade is another year of strong academic development!

Housekeeping Communication If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school between 8:20-8:35 AM or 1:15-2:00 PM at 474-5942, or email me at mark.krokos@csdcomets.org

Housekeeping Dismissal If your child will be picked up, please send a note indicating the date and who will be picking your child up at Parent Pick-Up (located in the cafeteria). If your child is being dismissed early, please send in a note so I can notify the office and prepare your child for his/her early dismissal.

Housekeeping Birthdays We enjoy recognizing students on their special day. If you would like to send in a treat, you are welcome to do so. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher before the celebration so that you can be provided with a homeroom count and allergy information.

Housekeeping Allergies If your child has an allergy to any food, please notify the school immediately. Also, as a procedure, we ask that any treats, snacks, or other items sent in for the class be peanut free to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.

Standards Based Report Cards Advanced (A) Advanced indicates superior academic performance. Advanced work indicates an in-depth understanding and exemplary display of the skills included in the PA Academic Content Standards.

Standards Based Report Cards Proficient (P) Proficient indicates a satisfactory level of performance. Proficient work indicates a solid understanding and an adequate display of the skills included in the PA Academic Content Standards.

Standards Based Report Cards Basic (B) Basic reflects a marginal level of academic performance. Basic work indicates a partial understanding and limited display of the skills included in the PA Academic Content Standards. This work is approaching satisfactory performance, but has not been reached.

Standards Based Report Cards Below Basic (BB) Below Basic level indicates inadequate level of academic performance. Below Basic work indicates little understanding and minimal display of the skills included in the PA Academic Content Standards. There is a major need for additional instructional opportunities .

Conferences Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November and February. Schedules will be sent home as the conference day approaches.

Lunch Procedure Please be sure to send in your child’s lunch account money in a sealed envelope with their name and account number clearly labeled on it. Lunch is 11:15 – 11:45 AM Students can purchase snack toward the end of the lunch period. Students must have cash to purchase snack (lunch accounts may not be used).

Recess Procedure We will be going outside daily, as the weather and temperatures determine so. We will be outside in dry conditions with temperatures from 25 degrees (wind chill) and above. Please dress your child according to the weather. We regularly check weather.com for the most current conditions prior to going outside for recess.

Busing and Parent Pick Up Students will be placed on their regularly assigned afternoon bus unless they have a note designating otherwise (i.e. Early Dismissal, Parent Pick-Up , Home with a friend, … ) If you need to pick up your child that day due to various circumstances, please be sure to call the office at 474-5942 so I can be informed and prepare your child for dismissal.
