Broadcast Journalist What is Broadcast Journalism? Broadcast journalists research, investigate and present news and for television, radio and the internet. Their goal is to introduce information in an equal, accurate and unique way through news, documentaries and other programmes that are factual.

Who are BBC? The BBC stands for The British Broadcasting Corporation and is a public service broadcaster. Their headquarters is based in London and it is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation as well as the biggest broadcaster in the world in terms of the mass number of employees; which is nearly 21,000 people that work there and that is only the permanent staffing. The number of staff when part-time, flexible, and fixed contract staff are included is over 35,000.

Job Description and Role ‘BBC Surrey is an ambitious radio station in a busy and competitive patch. We are looking for a creative and talented producer to join our breakfast team.’ To be able to set up ‘compelling content and studio produce the programme on a daily basis. You will have endless ideas and be comfortable directing presenters during a live programme. You will be able to demonstrate you can come up with your own stories, develop creative treatments for both radio and social media, and work on big projects.’

Skills and Experience needed ‘We are looking for a dynamic producer who can deliver the kind of creative radio that keeps the audience coming back for more. You will be a great team player, organised, meticulous and have sound editorial judgement.’ 1. On initial recruitment, either a recognised journalistic qualification or extensive practical experience in a journalistic role. 2. People with a similar amount of experience in broadcast journalism may be appointed at a higher level within the salary range. 3. First class news judgement. 4. Good broadcasting and on-air skills where appropriate. 5. Good writing skills. 6. Ability to originate and develop programme stories. 7. Ability to work co-operatively as part of a small team. 8. Knowledge of production techniques and facilities in both Radio and Television and the ability to develop Multi-Media production skills. 9. An understanding of the BBC’s Producer Guidelines and awareness of legal considerations applying to all types of output.
