What is online proctoring?? Online proctoring is essentially a video conference between a certified proctor and you. Online proctoring allows you to take your exams at a location of your choice as long as it meets the School’s specific technical requirements.

Process

How does online proctoring work? Online proctoring uses your computer’s built in web cam and speakers. You pick a place where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the exam. This must be a quiet area where you have the ability to keep other people out of the room. You must have a strong Internet connection (3Mbps or higher) and the ability to plug your computer into power. Please use http://www.speedtest.net to test the connectivity of the network in the location used for your exams – home office, etc.

Your Testing Area You will be required to scan the room and your work surface/space, including anything on the floor, with your webcam when instructed by the online proctor. The space used for the exam should be clear of clutter – not just actual notes, but anything that could be seen as notes, such a calendar, pictures, books, notebooks, etc. You are required to keep the phone nearby, with the corresponding number you entered in your profile, face down and just out of arms reach. If the proctor will call you if they cannot reach you via your computer due to connectivity issues.

Scheduling Appointments Appointments for all exams are required to be made within one week of being notified the exam schedule is ready Students are notified when exam schedules are posted. Appointment time slots have ample capacity, but like all other appointments, the earlier that appointments are made, the more time choices.  Appointments are made on the half hour unless otherwise indicated and are first come/first served. Appointments scheduled less than 24 hours in advance are scheduled using the On Demand feature. The On Demand fee and proctoring session fee (totaling $17.50 for a one hour exam; each additional hour is $5.00) is paid by the student via credit card and is not reimbursable..

Demo Exam You may schedule and take one practice exam with Examity at no cost to: Familiarize yourself with Examity Test your Internet speed in the setting where you will be taking your exams Determine the appropriateness of your physical testing area You will receive an email with further details when this is available.

Exam Day Procedures Be sure to have everything ready prior to your appointment time. Have one of the dry erase sleeves ready as the proctor will require you to reflect your laptop and work area. If your Instructor allows the use of scratch paper, have up the correct number of dry erase sleeves, fine point dry erase markers and an eraser or paper towel on your desk. If your Instructor allows a hand held calculator, have it on your desk. Phone must be nearby, but face down and an arms-length away.   Download your exam You may start your session no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the appointment time.

Please contact exams@creighton.edu All students will be sent detailed instructions via email during the week of September 4 with instructions on setting up your profile, accessing your demo exam, and scheduling all your exams Questions ? Please contact exams@creighton.edu or the Exam Hotline at 402.280.5665
