KIAMA BOWLING CLUB OCTOBER NEWSLETTER HUGE NEWS FOR KIAMA BC Our club has received conformation from Bowls NSW that Kiama Bowling Club will host the 2017 State Champion of Champion Pairs and Singles. A massive capture for our club which will undoubtedly help promote our club to every bowler in the state. The four day event will be held next November and will be bowls of the highest standard. I have no doubt a big reason why received the event was because of the fantastic greens we have, and a successful Zone Championship we held earlier in the year. A massive thanks must go to Danny Keenan and Paul Bragga who maintain such fantastic greens. CLUB CHALLENGE The Club Challenge for 2016 is coming to a close with a pretty successful run in all three divisions. The Silver Division has went through their section undefeated, dropping only two rinks. They will compete in the regional playoffs in mid November for a spot in the state finals at Warilla in December. The Gold’s had a winner takes all clash with Towradgi last weekend. Unfortunately, the boys went down but a big effort competing at that level right until the end. The Blue division has a game at Fairy Meadow to go. A big victory and other results their way could see them through to regional playoffs in November. Well done to all members competing in this competition . MIXED PAIRS This competition is down to the final stages with some exciting games still to play. There is one quarter final to be played between I.Baird/L.Kuskey and A.Rodgers/J.Brownlie. The winner will meet M.Miller/G.Hodgson in the semi’s. On the other half of the draw, mother/son combo of Jo and Brad Hair won through to the semi finals with big wins over S.Wills/C.Rymer and the experienced husband/wife combo of Bill and Shirley Read. They will meet C.Dawson/T.Boniface for a spot in the final after working their way comfortably through the draw. Good luck to remaining sides. The Mixed Triples draw is now on the board. Please play your games by proposed dates. ANDERSON IRVINE SHIELD Our ladies will be hosting the Anderson Irvine Shield on Friday the 11th of November. This is an annual district event between Illawarra and South Coast ladies. Kiama has three representatives in the Illawarra side. They are Gloria Hodgson, Bronwyn Campbell and Cathy Dawson. Good luck ladies, do your club proud!! OTHER LADIES NEWS The consistency singles is down to the final game with Mel Walker taking on Norma Geribo in the final early November. The annual Norma Taylor pairs was held in early October. Club Captain Mick Weir presented Gloria Hodgson and Gwen Roy with the winners trophy. The Runners Up were Bronwyn Campbell and Sharon Brown. CLUB TRIPLES FINAL The Men’s triples final was played between Bill Toulmin/Tim Rossiter/Alistar Tarbart and Kevin Pepper/Adam Rodgers/Cameron Baker. Toulmin’s men skipped off to an early lead playing some excellent bowls in windy conditions. Pepper’s lads could not keep pace and Toulim’s side eventually ran 32-19 winners. Well done to Toulmin, Rossiter and Tarbart, 2016 Triples Champs!! PENNANTS 2017 The pennant sheet has been up on board for a month. Please help our quest for a flag in 2017. Much more emphasis will be put into creating a positive atmosphere for all grades in 2017. The club captain and I have a vision of improving team morale and are looking for members to join our revolution of making our club a competitive force in 2017!! Adam Rodgers Bowls Coordinator
