What should my child be doing now? Countdown to each exam Plan for each week and each day Mindfulness – sleep, eating healthy, exercising, continuing with hobbies, socialising Quiet space to work Past papers! Fixing/correcting mistakes Learning from others Every subject should be covered – how many revision sessions before each exam? Plan – maximise their potential. Ensuring they are dedicating the right amount of time to all subjects. Example: if Science grades are low – do not neglect them! Double the amount of time you are spending on them. If you are smashing Sports Studies continue with the revision, but maybe drop an hour and swap for a weaker area. Everything should be covered How many revision sessions? You need to know this, so you can prioritise your learning/revision

Managing ‘panic mode’… Confidence building Hard work leads to confidence Do not allow to over work Being supportive Doing something they enjoy that is not work/school related Reassurance Overwork – needs to be a balance, otherwise it can get mixed up. Need to feel fresh Supportive – sounds obvious, but being comforting and reassuring can be the difference

Exam day Early night! Have equipment and uniform ready before you go to sleep Breakfast Bring water – stay hydrated Arrive on time (or early) Attend all ‘warm up’ sessions Have a big pen to score off each exam you complete on your calendar Sleep is vital. An hour before midnight is worth 2 hours in the morning Preparation Time – time to settle any nerves before the exam

What to do if my child is ill the day of the exam? They will not be able to resist. Get them into school we can manage the scenario to make it as comfortable as possible Doctors afterwards – medical note If they miss the exam they will get zero
