The Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle

A little egg lay on a leaf in the moonlight.

On Sunday, a caterpillar came out of the egg and was very hungry.

On Monday, he ate one apple. But he was still hungry!

On Tuesday, he ate two pears. But he was still hungry!

On Wednesday, he ate three plums. But he was still hungry!

On Thursday, he ate four strawberries. But he was still hungry!

On Friday, he ate five oranges. But he was still hungry!

Then he had a stomachache! On Saturday, he ate one slice of chocolate cake, 1 ice cream cone, 1 pickle, 1 slice of cheese, 1 slice of salami, 1 lollipop, 1 slice of cherry pie, 1 sausage, 1 cupcake and a slice of watermelon. Then he had a stomachache!

He ate a nice big green leaf and that made him feel much better.

He wasn’t hungry anymore, he was very big He wasn’t hungry anymore, he was very big! He went into a cocoon where he stayed for a few weeks. He pushed his way out and soon he was a beautiful butterfly.
