Stonehenge Description: Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, 2 miles west of Amesbury and 8 miles north of Salisbury. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 ft high, 6 ft 11 in wide and weighing around 25 tons.

Is it impressive? Yes, it was built in 3100 BC!!! How did they move stones that weighed 25 tons?! And form a circle with them?!?

The Wonder of Stonehenge Read and look at page 2 to 3 What can we learn about the people who built Stonehenge? They were able to use tools (like antlers and bones to dig). They may have wanted to keep track of time (for planting, harvesting and for special days). They had figured out a way to lift very heavy stones.

Video Clip What can we learn about the people who built such a structure in 2500 B.C.? Watch this re-enactment! What amazed you?!
