Incomplete and Co-dominance

Warm-up Questions: Complete the below Punnett square for flowers. Pink is dominant to white and long stems are recessive to short. What percent of offspring in the above would have pink flowers and long stems. PS Ps pS ps ps

Co-dominance When two dominant genes are paired and both are fully expressed.

Co-dominance Cross Squares When setting up a square for co-dominance, each parent will have its own letter for the trait you are examining. The children will have one of each letter that code for the parents traits therefore it will code for and express each of the parents’ traits in a separate, unblended way.

Incomplete Dominance One allele does not fully dominate the other allele leading to both being expressed in a blend of the two. Incomplete dominance occurs in some flowers when a red one and a white one mix, there is the possibility of pink flowers.

Incomplete Dominance Cross Squares Just like with codominance, each parent will have its own set of letters for the trait. Unlike in co-dominance, the offspring phenotype will be a blend of each parent instead of showing both separately.
