Scripture Reading Luke 19:28-40 (NKJV)

Luke 19:29 (NKJV) And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples,
Luke 19:30 (NKJV) saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.
Luke 19:31 (NKJV) And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’”
Luke 19:33 (NKJV) But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?”
And they said, “The Lord has need of him.” Luke 19:34 (NKJV) And they said, “The Lord has need of him.”
Luke 19:35 (NKJV) Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.
And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road. Luke 19:36 (NKJV) And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.
Luke 19:37 (NKJV) Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,
Luke 19:38 (NKJV) saying: “‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Luke 19:39 (NKJV) And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
Luke 19:40 (NKJV) But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
I. Jesus’ Triumphal Entry was a Divine Event When His Glory Was Recognized.
A. Jesus demonstrated His divinity by: fulfilling prophecy, showing His omniscience, receiving deserved praise and willing accepting it as rightful. Jesus accepts the Praise because it was valid and true.
Zechariah 9:9 (NLT) 9 Rejoice, O people of Zion Zechariah 9:9 (NLT) 9 Rejoice, O people of Zion!* Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious,* yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
B. The parade gave His disciples an opportunity to celebrate.
C. Psalm 118:26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
C. His opponents wanted Jesus to make them stop worshipping Him.
D. The King replied: Praise cannot be stopped D. The King replied: Praise cannot be stopped. Christ rebuked the Pharisees criticism and stating that even creation cried out in worship.
Have you recognized the glory of Jesus Christ?
G. The donkey was a valuable possession to any family, yet the owner gave it up to the Lord freely.
H. What thing in our heart would we be unwilling to give up for Christ?
We must recognize Jesus’ Glory and Set Our Hope on His Redeeming Work.
II. Christ Endured The Next Week While One By One Every Worshipper Abandoned Him.
A. The fair weather fans, the celebrators, even the disciples began to show their tendency to worship anything but Christ when things became costly.
B. We must recognize that our sin was also the reaason for Christ’s death.
C. God expects us to trust Him even when we do not see the way forward, especially when things are hard.
D. This means we do not always trust our feelings, thoughts, or even experiences above His Words. We filter them with God’s Word.
E. Redemption is coming and the only way we can fully enjoy and celebrate Easter and Christ’s return is to remain faithful as Die Hard Worshippers; faithful to the end.
H. In Heaven, we will celebrate Christ’s redemption forever – and Franklin Street, after a championship, doesn’t have anything on 5 seconds of that experience!
• Recognize the Glory of Jesus Christ in Your Own Life. • Trust Him as Your Lord Even through Difficult Circumstances.
• Set Your Hope on the Assurance that Christ Loved Us Even When We Had Abandoned Him in sin. • Adore His Gracious Mercy and be Confident that because of Him Our Redemption Draws Nigh.
