WORKLOAD Beneficial and consistent for all Lecturers Departments review yearly Chairs / Managers review Current? Appropriately weighted? Beneficial and consistent for all Lecturers Make sure the workload you are using is the current one that is on file with the Dean’s Office – Toolkit

WORKLOAD Submission of revised workload: at least 3-4 months before effective quarter Routing for Approval: Dean’s Office (for Dean’s endorsement) APO CHR AFT Make sure the workload you are using is the current one that is on file with the Dean’s Office – Toolkit

Temporary Augmentation A Temporary Augmentation is used to meet temporary needs resulting from: Emergency Coverage (i.e. Faculty Leaves) Addition of a course or other assigned duties

Temporary Augmentation Pre6 – No Title Code To determine if it is a temporary augmentation, see if the % requested to work is higher than the initial appointment’s %.

Temporary Augmentation Continuing Lecturer – Title Code:1652 An increase in % from the approved Needs %. The need % should be re-assessed if there has been a temporary augmentation for more than two years.

Department Responsibility Internal Teaching Evaluations for possible reappointment Submission Deadlines Appointment letters should go out a month before the effective date. Last minute revisions

Department Responsibility Communicate with Lecturers to clarify: Possible employment with other departments (period & % not to exceed 100%) Post-Doc Appointment Academic Coordinator Other teaching titles (i.e. Adjunct/Visiting Series) Researchers

FULL SEARCHES A full search (conducted through UC Recruit) is required for all Lecturer Appointments A break in service for over a year requires a new search be conducted.

EMERGENCY EXCEPTION Emergency Temporary Exception: -Due to an unforeseen circumstance -Good for only one academic year -Generate search report (via UC Recruit)

LECTURER SALARY Salary Scale 17A (pre6) Salary Scale 17B (CL Merits)

LECTURER SALARY Salary Department Level 4th Year Increase / 10th Quarter Merit Must not decrease

Things to consider as you go back to your department: Review current workload Teaching Evaluations for possible reappointment
