Crimestoppers is an independent charity - only charity in UK helping to solve crimes and find criminals Not part of the Police or a Government department – Not linked to Crimewatch It takes information anonymously – NOT confidential For people who don't want to go to Police to give information about crime – not a replacement but a safe alternative Set up by Lord Ashcroft 26 years ago

It works! Since 1988 the work of Crimestoppers has led to: Nearly 134,000 people have been arrested and charged with offences including murder, rape, drug dealing, burglary, robbery and theft Over 1.6 million useful pieces of information have been received Nearly £132 million of stolen property has been recovered Illegal drugs with a street value of over £326 million have been seized Every Hour a person is arrested

And in Norfolk……. 2014/15 results 777 pieces of information disseminated to Norfolk Police 46 arrests 234 positive actions (6% increase from 2013/14)

Examples of Info provided to Crimestoppers Murder prevented by seizing guns; A woman close to gang members, was scared about he violence they planned. She described the guns they owned and where they were stored. Quick action from the police found size guns and made arrests for possession. A recovery of this scale will have stopped murder or serious injury.
