Harper Park PBIS Gets a New Name!! 2016-2017

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports Campaign.. Is Now Harper Park Alliance

Why the New Name? As the community of harper park grows and improves so do it’s programs. The term Alliance means a merging of efforts or interests by persons, families, states, or organizations. In other words, the building of a strong community of people working for the good of all.

So what part do You play in the community of harper park?? Each and every student at Harper Park is a Citizen. A citizen of harper park with a role that is much more than a learner. When you come to school everyday you are doing your job to prepare for the future of this world. You come to school each day to learn, grow, and participate in becoming a better human being.

What does it mean to be a citizen? “A citizen is one who is willing to be accountable for and committed to the well being of the whole. That whole can be a city block, a community, a nation, the earth. A citizen is one who produces the future, someone who does not wait, beg, or dream for the future.” ~ Peter Block, Community the structure of belonging

Think for a minute.. How are you working to help the community? Either at home, at school or in your neighborhood? Do you have a goal you want to strive for? For example: Do you want to make sure you recycle more to help the environment? Do you have a younger sibling you could read to? Do you want to help coach young kids sports teams? Join a Club at Harper Park. Do you want to help more around the house?

Copy and paste this site into your browser.. And watch the video. https://www.ted.com/talks/mark_bezos_a_life_lesson_from_a_volunteer_firefighter

What does that mean. Turn to your table partner and discuss. “Not everyday is going to offer us a chance to save a life. But EVERYDAY offers an opportunity to affect one.” ~ Mark Bezos What does that mean. Turn to your table partner and discuss. Discuss as a class how we can make small decisions each day to affect others.

Don’t wait to be a hero… Save the shoes now….. Alliance 2016-2017
