1- Strategic Planning Assign a project team. EX: Developing a timeline, finalizing objectives, formulating a training plan Examine current business processes and information flow. Have the team perform an analysis Set objectives. Clearly defined prior to implementing the ERP solution Develop a project plan. The team should develop a project plan which includes previously defined goals, timelines, and training procedures

2- Procedure Review Review software capabilities. Train on every aspect of the ERP software to fully educate the team on capabilities and identify gaps Identify manual processes. Evaluate which processes that are manual and should be automated with the ERP system Develop standard operating procedures (SOP): Written procedure prescribed for repetitive use as a practice, in accordance with agreed upon specifications aimed to obtain a desired outcome

3- Data Collection & Clean-up Convert data. Determine which information should be converted through an analysis of current data Collect new data. Define the new data that needs to be collected Review all data input. Data must be reviewed for accuracy and completeness Clean-up data Review and weed out unneeded information such as customers who haven’t purchased in a while or are no longer in business

ERP costs and benefits: Costs between $10 million and $500 million, depending on company size Streamlining processes and workflows with a single integrated system Reduce redundant data entry and processes (shares information across the department) Establish uniform processes that are based on recognized best business practices Improved workflow and efficiency Improved customer satisfaction based on improved on-time delivery, and increased quality Reduced inventory costs resulting from better planning
