Thanksgiving: In The Midst of Adversity ! ( I Thess. 5 : 12 - !9 ) v. 18 “Give THANKS “ IN “ EVERYTHING for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” In The Midst of: FLIGHT, FIGHT, FIRE, FRAMED
1. Thanksgiving : In the Midst of running away from something : FLIGHT Psalm 7 – 9 : David was fleeing for his life from King Saul for7 years. He wrote 8 psalms while he was dealing with this. Psalm 8:2 – Praise will silence your enemies Lets read, Litany of Thanksgiving and Praise Ps.136 Are you running from something or somebody on your job or at your school? Give it over to the LORD!
2. Thanksgiving : In the Midst of a FIGHT ! II Chronicles 20 : 1 – 30 V. 21 – King Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him . … before they went out to the battle, singing … “Give THANKS to the Lord, for His love endures forever!!” Are you in a heated fight with your spouse, family, neighbors or friends? V. 15 the battle is not yours, but God’s! Give it to Him!
3. Thanksgiving : In the Midst of the FIRE!! Daniel 3 - Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would not bow their knee to the idol, against the King’s order. So they were thrown into the fiery furnace. They saw a 4th Man in the flames - GOD! Dan.6:10- Daniel learned of the King’s decree, not to pray to anyone but him, or be thrown into the lions den. But he prayed and “gave thanks” to God anyway. So they threw him to the lions! Unharmed! Are you facing the fiery flames of Financial battles? Phil.4:19- God will supply all of our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
4. Thanksgiving: In the Midst of being FRAMED! Acts 16:16-30 - Being unjustly put into prison, Paul and Silas at midnight were praying, singing and THANKING God, counting themselves worthy of suffering for His sake. Have you been unjustly Framed? (2 Cor.4:16-17 ) “Do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed daily. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
Are YOU fleeing, fighting or have been framed for something? Broken relationships? People that are opposing you? Pressures on the job? Fighting with finances? Running from issues in your past? Eph.4:6- Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Rom.8:28- …for God works all things together for good, to those who love Him, who are called according to His purposes. Lets sing, Give Thanks to the LORD, for His love endures forever!
