July 2013 Updates: Building a strong bond is a labour of love!
The girls spent a lot of time together this month The girls spent a lot of time together this month. When they were not playing together or drawing together, they were at least checking out each other’s hobbies
Spending time together is good for both of them as they both have a chance to learn from each other new skills
Top left: assembling together a “3D” picture Dora puzzle and then rocking from side to side to see the picture change. Top right: a friend gave us a copy of “Fistook’s house” (a vintage Israeli TV series) and Hahgoot decided immediately she doesn’t like it (before seeing it, it was just new and unexpected) so took some convincing... Bottom left: as usual, Hahgoot can’t share or interact with her felt story, but at least she’ll look at Alma’s.
Our friend Dasha sent us a fantastic cards game: “Halom Li” (roughly translated to “I have a dream”), which is a game for relaxation before bed and for opening circles of communication for parents and children. Needless to say, I loved it, and more importantly, the girls LOVE it! Alma taught her dad to play too.
Working on communication is a big focus all the time, regardless if the girls are playing quietly or rough and tumble...
Hahgoot designed a cool “park for marbles” and when the game was over she sorted them by type.
All this work on communication and problem solving through play paid off: the girls worked together to build a tent without me in the room and did very well! Both were proud of their team work efforts.
A fun stir fry dinner together
