Bell Ringer I will now return your T-shirt designs and River Maps. These have been graded and need to be placed in your folder. You will need to keep up with them until the end of the 9 weeks.

Composition books Today we will be putting Duck Tape on the bindings of your CB. The tape is the class color. It will be used to identify CBs which get missed placed. DO NOT REMOVE THE TAPE!

Summer Projects I have began grading summer projects. I noticed that several students did the map work on line. The map has to be completed on an actual paper map. (If you did the work and scanned it that is ok.) If you did the map section on the computer you need to let me know so I can give you a map to redo that part.

Notes Now we will continue taking notes on the Regions of Texas. Be sure to write anything that you did not have on the chart. There will be a test over everything we have covered on Thursday.

Gulf Coastal Plains or Coastal Plains Largest region; Locations the Louisiana border to the coast up to the Oklahoma border Major cities San Antonio, Austin, Houston,Dallas. Climate is mild with the coast being humid; Landforms- Plains rolling hills & rivers; Economic Activity–Lumber, Farming, Trade, Tourism, Ranching, Oil, and Petrochemical 2/3 of the population of Texas live in this region: Average rainfall 30-55 inches.

Great Plains Region- 2nd largest region; Locations- Covering most of Northwest Texas. Climate is dry, little rainfall, Landforms- plains, hills, rivers, Ogallala Aquifer, Balcones & Caprock Escarpments & Edwards Plateau. Economic Activity - Oil & gas, farming and ranching. Major cities- Lubbock, Amarillo and Midland- Odessa. Average rainfall 15-20 inches.

North Central Plains- 3rd largest region; Location- North Central Texas. Climate is cold winters, hot summers Landforms- plains and rivers. Economic Activities- Ranching and Agribusiness. Major cities- Fort Worth, Abilene, Killeen, Wichita Falls and San Angelo. Average rainfall 20-30 inches.

Mountains & Basins Region- Smallest of all regions; Location- Far West Texas. Climate - hot summers and cold winters. Landforms- basins, rivers, Davis Mountains, canyon, plateau, mesa, butte and escarpments. Highest natural point in Texas, “Guadalupe Peak,”. It rises 8,751 feet above sea level. Major cities- El Paso. Average rainfall is 0-16 inches.
