Map of the Trip Down the Mississippi Huck and Jim's Trip

Academic Critical Analysis overview Literature Circles 1. Regroup, review. Each person report to the group on his/her reading and results. 2. Read chapters 14 - 15 . 3. Your part is due NEXT CLASS! 4. Think about whether or not this book has value in the classroom. Should it be banned or does it teach a lesson about morality? Is the classroom the place to read this book with its inflammatory language? 5. Groups report to the whole class.

Reading Reading: Chapters 21 - 22 Work on your quotes chart as you go. Think about a critical perspective – either the one you have been assigned or one that you might want to apply to a paper you will write. Also, think about Huck’s moral compass. Be able to discuss his conflict between society’s dictates and his conscience.

Honors Criticism practice Group work on his/her critical perspective. You will present your perspective (teach it) using Power Point. Presentation date TBD classes. Make sure you have THOROUGHLY interpreted the text from the perspective you have been assigned. This is PRACTICE but you need to demonstrate an understanding of both the text and the perspective. Create a power point slide show that demonstrates your understanding of the perspective and helps the class to understand that perspective.

Homework Unfinished class reading Academic: Your role in lit circles complete for 4 – 15. Honors: Quote recorder 1st third of IR book due NEXT CLASS
