Next Steps Talk to your parent(s)/guardian(s) Fill out an application which is due on May 18th Parent(s)/guardian(s) come to an information night on May 18th at 5:30 p.m. in the NBECHS Media Center Interview with the Early Scholar Coordinator and/or Principal of NBECHS School begins for Early Scholars on August 9th (before MSMS begins)
Frequently Asked Questions What high school “credit” do Early Scholars receive? Some courses count for high school matriculation but none of these courses count for high school credit. Matriculation means that, once in high school, students would take the next course in the series. For example, taking Spanish I or Integrated Math I as an Early Scholar would make students eligible to take Spanish II or Integrated Math II in high school. All classes, however, count for middle school credit not high school credit.
Frequently Asked Questions Do the classes taken as an Early Scholar count for A-G requirements? No. Students must take classes during their high school years for classes to count for A-G requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions How will students get from Mountain Shadows to NBECHS? The Early Scholar coordinator will meet MSMS students near the gate at the back of the two campuses and walk them up to their first class.
Frequently Asked Questions What about transportation? Students may need transportation depending on their schedules. Arrangements may be made with Think Together if after school care is needed. Because NBECHS and MSMS have different minimum days, students will need transportation every Wednesday as well as if they are taking a 6th period class at NBECHS.
