Symbology Outline Load data Single Color Graduated Color Unique Value Dot Chart Multiple Attribute Allies of World War II Axis powers

Load Data Loading If you want to load your data from local computer, then you may utilize “Add Data” or “Arc Catalog” into Data Frame. Data name: axisPowers.shp & alliesPowers.shp Data source:

Properties Single Color You need to press your right button, then you may find a item called “Properties”. Besides, there are lots of options that you should know at first, such as Open Attribute Table, Zoom To Layer, Label Features, Edit Features, Data and Properties.

Color Single Color There are lots of function in properties, including General, Source, Selection, Display, Symbology, Field, Definition Query, Labels, Joins & Relations, Time and HTML Popup. Press the “Symbology”.

Color Single Color

Color Single Color Single color means that one shapefile is allowed only one color in the same time. However, you may find these function while you double click the color icon in the data frame.

Color Graduated Color If your data has continuous traits, then you may present the spatial data by Graduated Color. Select both Quantities and Graduated Colors. Setup your options: Fields, Classification, Color Ramp, Label and Range.

Color Graduated Color

Color Graduated Symbol If your data has continuous traits, then you may present the spatial data by Graduated Symbol. Select both Quantities and Graduated Symbols. Setup your options: Fields, Classification, Symbol Size from, Label, Range, Template and Background.

Color Graduated Symbol

Color Unique Value If your data has discrete traits, then you may present the spatial data by Unique Value. Select both Categories/Unique Value and Add All Values. Setup your options: Fields, Name and Color Scheme.

Color Unique Value

Color Dot Density If your data has density traits, then you may present the spatial data by Dot Density. Select both Quantities and Dot Density. Setup your options: Fields Section, Dot Size, Dot Value and Background.

Color Dot Density

Chart Pie If your data has numeric traits, then you may present the spatial data by pie chart. Select both Charts and Pie. Setup your options: Fields Section, Symbol, Color Scheme, Background and Prevent chart overlap. You can adjust its size by Size.

Chart Pie

Chart Multiple Attribute If your data has several traits, then you may present the spatial data by multiple attribute. Select symbology/ show/ categories/ Unique values and many fields . Select those visible items which you want to present through Value Field. Press Add All Values, and adjust color by Color Scheme, moreover, you can add text by Label.

Chart Multiple Attribute

Chart Multiple Attribute If your data has several traits, then you may present the spatial data by multiple attribute. Select symbology/ show/ Multipale Attributes/ Quantity by category. Select those visible items which you want to present through Value Field. Press Add All Values, and adjust color by Color Scheme, moreover, you can add text by Label.

Chart Multiple Attribute

GIS Charts Exercise 2-1 Have you ever heard “Nazi”? Especially in WWII, the Holocaust and Germany's war in the East was based on Hitler's long-standing view that the Jews were the great enemy of the German people and that Lebensraum was needed for the expansion of Germany. He focused on Eastern Europe for this expansion, aiming to defeat Poland and the Soviet Union and on removing or killing the Jews and Slavs.

GIS Charts Exercise 2-1 In this assignment, all you need to do is present different kinds of death population.

GIS Charts Exercise 2-1 Draw a map like as follows. You may try different color and class, but your map needs to contain main elements. Population of different country during WWII

GIS Charts Exercise 2-2 Draw a map like as follows. You may try different color and class, but your map needs to contain main elements. Dead Population of different class during WWII (Common & Soldier)

GIS Charts Exercise 2-3 Draw a map like as follows. You may try different color and class, but your map needs to contain main elements. Dead Population of different class during WWII (Common & Soldier)

GIS Charts Exercise 2-4 Draw a map like as follows. You may try different color and class, but your map needs to contain main elements. Population and Dead Population of different countries during WWII

GIS Charts Exercise 2-5 Draw a map like as follows. You may try different color and class, but your map needs to contain main elements. Population and Dead Population of different countries during WWII

Assignment Symbology Practice Problem 1: Please utilize the symbology tool to draw color on your map or file in order. (1) unique: give different color to each county. (2) dot density: use president election result from central election commission to plot different numbers of which candidates have been gained by different color in dot. (Resolution: county-based) (3) graduated color: show the ratio of people who have voted in president election or not. (Resolution: county-based) (4) graduated symbol: show the numbers of people who have voted in president election. (Resolution: county-based) (5) pie and bar: show the ratio and numbers of votes from different candidates. (Resolution: county-based) (6) multiple attributes: show the ratio of Tsai’ vote by multiple attribute.

Assignment Symbology Practice Problem 2: We have DEM (Digital Elevation Map) of Taiwan, please use “suitable” colorbar. (1) Please load the raster file (img file format) and change its symbology into a suitable color. (2) Please use 500 meters as a division to reclassify(see also Hint for Week 2 Assignment.pptx) DEM file and change its color. (3) Please set 500 meters as a division in symbology tool to redraw this DEM file. (4) What is the difference between the answer of (2) and (3)?
