Harold George Wagner III Senior Economics Period 2 My Stock Portfolio Harold George Wagner III Senior Economics Period 2

My Stocks I chose to invest my $5,000 in Google Inc, Exxon Mobile Corp, and General Electric Co. due to the fact that I believed that these three companies would help me gain a nice amount of money over a certain period of time.

How Much I Invested I bought all of my stocks on March 14, 2007. I invested about three-quarters of my money into Google, Inc (GOOG) and spent $3512 on 8 stocks worth $439 each. I then invested about three-quarters of the money left into Exxon-Mobile Corp (XOM) on March 14 and spent $1114.24 on 16 stocks worth $69.64 each. Finally, I invested the rest of my money into General Electric Co (GE) on March 14 and spent $372.90 on 11 stocks worth $33.90 each. I spent a total of $4999.14 and was left with $.86, which I divided up and gave to my siblings.

My Profits I sold all of my stocks on January 10, 2008. Google had the most profit, due to the fact that it rose over $200 to $653.39 and gave me a total amount of $5227.12. My profit on Google was a whopping $1715.12! Exxon Mobile did pretty good, too, with a rise of about $20 to $90.99.

My Profits The total amount of money Exxon Mobile gave me was $1455.84, making my profit $341.60 Finally, General Electric did OK with a rise of only $2 to $35.89 The total amount of money General Electric gave me was $394.79, making my profit $21.89 My overall profits totaled $2078.61, giving me a total worth of $7077.75 (remember that I gave my siblings a total of $.86)

Overall Overall, Google did the best and General Electric did the worst. As you can see by how much I made, you can do very well in the stock market. However, you can also lose a lot of money. Basically, you need to buy low and sell high and invest in stocks that would be most likely to gain money over a period of time.
