Whenever possible, we encourage you to share your Learning Journal with other students in your own group and in other groups through the course’s online networking sites. Narrate?

Learning Outcomes By the end of this unit, students should have: Learned the importance of method and flow in using TR Learned the major questions that guide the method of TR presented in this course

Preparatory Questions Reflection and response to the following questions is an important way for you to begin thinking about the content of the upcoming unit.  Please record your responses in your Learning Journal or hand write them in a notebook if you prefer.  You are not expected to share this information with others unless you choose to do so.

Preparatory Question 1 Think about a skill that you have and that you frequently use: reading, writing, farming, fishing, cooking, drawing, caring for a sick person, etc. What are the most important steps involved in, for example, raising a good crop, or writing a good essay? How did you learn those steps, and how do you adapt them to your own situation? Go to Learning Journal (MS Word)

Discussion Questions Reflect and respond to the following questions in your Learning Journal as you work through this unit.   Then, please choose your response to one of the Discussion Questions that is especially important to you. Paste that response into a Wiki posting in order to promote and participate in a larger discussion with other students, locally and internationally.   All of your Discussion Question responses should be brought into your Group Meetings.

Discussion Question 1 In the reading, Garrido states that “there should be a harmony between our ‘professed theology’—what we say—and our ‘operative theology’”—what we do (p. 49). As you recall the faith community in which you grew up, do you think that such harmony was present? What was a good example of it? Go to Learning Journal (MS Word) Go to Learning Journal (Wiki)

Discussion Question 2 Having read the Instructor’s Notes, describe each of the four phases in your own words. What do you think would help you most to learn the method of TR presented here? What would help you to cultivate an appropriate flow for it in the future? Go to Learning Journal (MS Word) Go to Learning Journal (Wiki)

Discussion Question 3 Discuss with your coordinator any questions that you have about the TR method as described here and as your group will use it in the following units. Go to Learning Journal (MS Word) Go to Learning Journal (Wiki)
