BY TIRI MADZIMA NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY CHURCH Sunday 10th july 2016 REVIVAL:101 (LESSONS FROM king HEZEKIAH) BY TIRI MADZIMA NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY CHURCH Sunday 10th july 2016

QUESTION DO YOU SOMETIMES LOOK AROUND YOU AND YOU KNOW DEEP IN YOUR HEART THAT ‘THERE MUST BE MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS.’ MAYBE YOU GET THAT FEELING WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE WORLD, OR AT YOUR CONTINENT, OR YOUR COUNTRY OR YOUR CHURCH, OR YOUR FAMILY, YOUR MARRIAGE OR YOUR LIFE. YOU KNOW THAT YOU NEED A FRESH TOUCH FROM GOD WHEN EVERYTHING WITHIN YOU IS SCREEMING…. REVIVAL!

TESTIMONY: TICHAONA (WE WILL SEE)

PLEASE OPEN YOUR BIBLES TO 2Chronicles 29:1-10 AS I ASK FOR OUR TARGET PASSAGE TO BE READ.

2 Chronicles 29:1-11 29:1 Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.   3 In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them.   4 He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east side 5 and said: "Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the Lord, the God of your fathers. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary.

6 Our fathers were unfaithful; they did evil in the eyes of the Lord our God and forsook him. They turned their faces away from the Lord's dwelling place and turned their backs on him. 7 They also shut the doors of the portico and put out the lamps. They did not burn incense or present any burnt offerings at the sanctuary to the God of Israel.  8 Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror and scorn, as you can see with your own eyes. 9 This is why our fathers have fallen by the sword and why our sons and daughters and our wives are in captivity.   10 Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us.

LET US PRAY

BACKGROUND Hezekiah reigned during the critical years of Assyrian world domination. Judah like Israel was threatened. But from the very beginning of Hezekiah's reign, "in the first month of the first year," this king had shown great zeal for the Lord. The temple, which had been defiled and all but abandoned, was reconsecrated, and the 25-year-old king determined to renew his generation's covenant with the Lord.

A wise person who makes a God glorifying; 1. CHOICE 2. CHANGE 3. CHALLENGE 4. CONNECTION 5. COMMITMENT revival may be rewarded with…

A wise person will make a God glorifying CHOICE (to follow Godly models of leadership.) (29:1-2)   Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. (29:1) He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. (29:2)

A wise person will make a God glorifying change. In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them.  (29:3)

A wise person will make a God glorifying challenge. (29:4-5)   He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east side (29:4) and said: "Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the Lord, the God of your fathers. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary. (29:5)

A wise person will make a God glorifying connection (between ungodly people & their problems.)(29:6-9) Our fathers were unfaithful; They did evil in the eyes of the Lord our God They forsook him. They turned their faces away from the Lord's dwelling place. They turned their backs on him. (29:6) They also shut the doors of the portico They put out the lamps. They did not burn incense They did not present any burnt offerings at the sanctuary to the God of Israel. (29:7) Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror and scorn, (29:8) our fathers have fallen by the sword and why our sons and daughters and our wives are in captivity. (29:9)

A wise person will make a God glorifying commitment Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us. (29:10) ( Public, Personal & Purposeful)
