Religious landscapes in the United States

Secularism The indifference to religion While people classify themselves with a particular religion, how many actually practice the faith? France is an example

Grab a reading at the front of the room… Read it by yourself. The reading talks about American’s changing religious affiliation. In your notes answer the following slide:

Questions in your notes: In what ways has American been secularized? Give me three ways. If Catholics adherents are dropping, what factor is still making them be prominent. Who is the biggest “gainer” of religious competition? Why do you think they are “winning”?

Let’s Review Religions Get the “Big” picture During these next fifteen minutes, I hope you can get the basic concept for each religion down. This is an “on the surface look” (for now) Remember our goal is to find out how these religions shape the landscape.

Indigenous and Shamanist Local in nature No common belief system Shamanism is a community faith, follow the shaman

Right now… Jot down what cultural aspects would affect the landscape of the places religion diffused to. Basically brainstorm some cultural landscape traits created by religion. Jump through this hoop!

Now get a picture of a sacred site… The student at each section closest to the door needs to ask you group the following 2 questions for each picture.
