Introduction This presentation will not relate to the entire subject of ‘Discovery interface display logic’ For a comprehensive overview of ‘Discovery interface display logic’ see separate material. This presentation will relate specifically to how electronic related records appear in the ViewIt tab of Primo. The link in the user interface is called ‘Related Records’ but it refers specifically to the ViewIt tab (not the GetIt tab) and thus exclusively to electronic inventory.
Introduction We will show here ‘Before’ and ‘After’ what happens when the related records option “is” and “is not” enabled. We will also show here some of the options which exist when the related records option “is” enabled.
The configuration options for Primo Agenda Introduction Sample records The configuration options for Primo
Sample records Here we have two electronic portfolios. They are e-books by author Carolyn Wells
Sample records The record ‘The room with the tassels’ is related to record ‘The man who fell from the earth’
Sample records The links to and from each record exist in the Alma interface
The configuration options for Primo Agenda Introduction Sample records The configuration options for Primo
The configuration options for Primo Now we will check the configuration for Primo via the Fulfillment Configuration Menu > Discovery Interface Display Logic > Related records
The configuration options for Primo Currently we have set ‘Enable related record services’ to ‘No’
The configuration options for Primo Therefore we when click ‘ViewIt’ in Primo we see only one link for each record and that link goes to the record from which the user does ‘ViewIt’ We do not see the link to the related record. We see only the link to the record we are viewing
The configuration options for Primo Now we will change the ‘Related Record Services Configuration’ and set it to ‘Yes’ and leave all checkboxes checked Note that here we are defining ‘Display closely related records services’ to be ‘as part of the original services’.
The configuration options for Primo Now we when click ‘ViewIt’ we see one link which goes to the record from which the user does ‘ViewIt’ and also a link to the related record. We do see the link to the related record. We see the link to the record we are viewing and to the related record We do see the link to the related record. We see the link to the record we are viewing and to the related record
The configuration options for Primo The first link goes to the record we are viewing (The room with the tassels)
The configuration options for Primo The second link goes to the related record (The man who fell through the earth)
The configuration options for Primo Before ‘Related Record Services Configuration’ is set it to ‘No’ After ‘Related Record Services Configuration’ is set it to ‘Yes’
The configuration options for Primo Note that previously we had defined ‘Display closely related records services’ to be ‘as part of the original services’ Now we will define it to be ‘Separately from original record services’ (and leave all else the same)
The configuration options for Primo When we have ‘Display closely related records services’ to be ‘Separately from original record services’ it will appear like this:
The configuration options for Primo Before Display closely related records services’ = ‘as part of the original services’ After ‘Display closely related records services’ = ‘Separately from original record services’
The configuration options for Primo In our case the records are monographs Therefore if we uncheck the box “Display related services for monographs” … Now it is not checked
The configuration options for Primo Then we no longer see the related records Related records services no longer appear for monographs
The configuration options for Primo Before “Display related services for monographs” is checked After “Display related services for monographs” is not checked
