Bruce Dunn (Facilitator) Asian Development Bank Strategies and Motivations for Scaling-up Investments in Natural Capital Bruce Dunn (Facilitator) Asian Development Bank

Lessons Need for a regulatory framework to support investments - eg water rights trading, environmental tax reforms. Mitigation banking, offsets financing. Need for bankable projects at scale, with sound returns, including financial as well as public goods, (and with capacity to design and implement) Investments need clear focus on inclusion, participation and poverty reduction. Engagement with local communities is critical.

Recommendations We need a new generation of project investment Designed specifically for Natural Capital and Climate Change. Establish project preparation facilities for Natural Capital investments. Need for more programmatic, integrated and systems driven approaches (eg. landscapes level) Multi-level intervention Recognize the natural capital investors and beneficiaries may be different.
