Class Names All of our classes are named after famous children’s authors, poets and illustrators. Each year the children learn about their class author and will share their books in class throughout the year.

Lost property - whenever possible and if it is clearly named - will be returned to your child. Unnamed items will be hung up on the rail in the PPA room. THERE WILL NO LONGER BE A LOST PROPERTY BIN. Long hair should be tied back. Ear-rings and jewellery… should not be worn, but if ears are recently pierced, simple stud earrings may be worn. (These must be removed by your child for P.E)

Snacks Reception and Key Stage 1 children are provided with a free snack but if you would like to send your Key Stage 2 child with a snack then yes please to fresh or dried fruit and vegetables. No, thank you to biscuits, snack bars and snacks containing nuts as we are a nut free school. We have a ‘no nuts’ policy so please ensure these are not bought in or included in ingredients.

Medicine Only prescribed labelled medication can be administered by office staff once a medical form is completed. Those included in a long term health plan may also be administered by staff. Inhalers and epi-pens will be kept in a medical box in class but please check the date on them. These boxes will be taken out to PE, swimming and off-site trips. All other medicines (e.g. Calpol, indigestion tablets, antihistamines etc.) can only be administered by parents/guardians.

Behaviour policy The 6R’s and House points Behaviour policy The 6R’s and House points. Last year the school introduced the 6R’s which represents the school values. Children earn house points linked to displaying these values: Respectful Relationships Resilience Resourceful aRticulate Risk taking Reflective

House Points. The children earn house points over the course of a week. These are collected and totalled each week. The totals are shared in celebration assembly each week. Then the house cup is awarded at the end of each half term, to the team with the highest total. Then at the end of the year the house with the highest total is awarded the award for the year .

Respecting Rights. In school, all the children participate in creating their own class charter, based on the UNCRC. They learn that all children have a right to learn, develop their talents, feel safe and cared for, to be listened to and be healthy. In this way, adults and children work collaboratively for common goals, celebrating our 6 R’s.

Celebration Assembly Whole school celebration assembly takes place on a Friday morning. In each class there will be 2 stars of the week certificates given that are linked to the children who have demonstrated one or more of the 6r’s. The names of the award winners will be shared on the newsletter as usual.

Reading It is important that the children read daily at home. The children will have daily access to high quality books from our classroom book area that they may bring home to share with you. Once we have had the opportunity to read with your child in school they will bring home a colour banded reading book to read to you. These can be changed daily. We will visit the school library weekly and the children may choose a book to bring home to share with you.
