Talking Points Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy

The bottom line The Family Readiness System ensures that regardless of branch of service, active or reserve status, or geographic location, service members, their families and survivors can easily tap into a trusted network of support that maximizes both military and civilian resources.

For families Family programs are part of your personal network of support. You can rely on family programs; we’re here for you. Family programs provide you with information, services and programs for everyday life.

For families On base, in the community or online, we are here for you. Find us on the installation at [insert contact information]. If we don’t have what you need, we can refer you to someone who does. Find us online at Military OneSource (http://www.militaryonesource.mil; 800-342-9647). This network of support ensures that you will always have access to support, regardless of your geographic location.

For families Family programs contribute to the stability and strength of you and your family. Family programs are not just for when there’s a problem; use them to sharpen your skills for life. Seek help early. Find us online or at one of our many locations around the world.

For leaders We are stronger together. Working together, leaders and service providers can maximize opportunities to regularly share official family readiness information with military families. By collaborating, we ensure no service member, family member or survivor is overlooked.

For leaders Think of us as advisors. Service provider representatives serve as advisors to leaders, providing information and materials to promote awareness of family readiness services and encourage proactive engagement with the Family Readiness System.
