State of the State Colorado 2016 The purpose of this presentation is to: Introduce our staff, explain who we are, and describe what we do as an organization and individually Highlight what the department has accomplished recently Attempt to predict the future

Who are we? Grace Sandeno, Trauma Section Manager Martin Duffy, Trauma System Specialist Eileen Brown, Stroke and STEMI Coordinator Samantha Meza, Administrative Assistant

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Executive branch of the government Responsible for enforcing laws promulgated by the legislative branch of the government Works with the Board of Health which has the authority to promulgate rules for the trauma system

CDPHE cont. The department is responsible for enforcing rules based on the state laws. The division offers technical assistance and education to maintain designation status The division provides a documented public review process

Civics Lesson Legislature makes laws Colorado Board of Health makes rules based on those laws CDPHE enforces rules and provides technical assistance
