School day begins at 7:50 a.m. Students arriving after this time MUST have a tardy pass. After Independence Day, students will walk independently to class Dismissal is at 2:10 p.m. No check-outs or transportation changes are accepted after 1:45 p.m. Please make sure that any transportation changes are in writing. Please fill out your child’s transportation daily in your child’s folder. Car riders must be picked up by 2:30 p.m.

Breakfast cost: $1.50 Time: 7:20 – 7:45 a.m. Students stop by the classroom first to get their breakfast card. Only late bus riders receive breakfast after 7:45. If you do not want your child eating breakfast at school, please let one of us know.

Monday is extras day for first grade. 10:51-11:21 at Table 3 Lunch cost: $2.35 No fast food, please! Monday is extras day for first grade. Parents are welcome to come eat lunch with their child. Please sit at the tables on the stage. Please note that parents are only allowed to take their own child to eat at the outside picnic tables unless they have written permission from the parents of the other student. http://www.mypaymentsplus.com

We will be eating snack daily around 1:00. Please send in a healthy snack with your child daily. Extra snack donations for those who forget are always appreciated!

We have 1 party per year- our Winter celebration! Birthday Celebrations You are welcome to bring in a special treat for your child. Please bring it in during our lunch time (10:51) to pass it out.

Nickajack is a PBIS school, or Positive Behavioral Intervention and Strategies School. We focus on positive behavior. Students will be rewarded for their positive behavior throughout the school by being given Braves Bucks by any staff member.

B3 Be A Better Brave Students learn appropriate behavior of a respectful, responsible, role-model through instruction, practice, feedback, and positive reinforcement.

Level 3= Meets standards consistently and independently Level 3+ = Exceeds Standards- In addition to the 3, makes applications and inferences beyond expectations. Level 3= Meets standards consistently and independently Level 2 = Progressing- The student is making progress toward meeting the standard. Level 1 = Limited progress or does not meet standards. *Report cards will be sent home at the end of every 9 weeks. *Progress reports will only be sent home (at 4 1/2 weeks)

Students will not be receiving a weekly or monthly homework packet with practice pages. Students should be reading each night (20 minutes is the goal), practicing sight words (need to know 200 sight words by the end of 1st grade), and practicing math facts (addition and subtraction facts to 20). If needed practice pages will be sent home to review.
