Presentation Grading

Interim Reports Feedback Interim Report, not a draft Supposed to show progress to project objective Cover Page Interim Report January 2014 Sponsor and Faculty Advisor Name Requires Proprietary or Export Statement? check with Sponsor

Interim Reports - General Comments Hard to “see” your progress Too much info embedded in paragraphs Use tables and figures Many good visuals in Orals, not in reports Slapped together – different writing styles Missing words Poor grammar, awkward wording Figure numbering inconsistent

Interim Reports -Structure Watch tenses – did you do anything? ToC Number sections and pages Make sure numbers agree with text Glossary (Nomenclature) Alphabetical order (English then Greek)

Interim Reports Feedback References [ref] Arrange in order that you cite them Cite all of them Copy equations/theory sections – cite source Figures Arrange in order that you use them Annotate and Label – helps to explain your point Cite source

Interim Reports Feedback Equations: Reference source Number #) right adjusted F=ma 1) Where: F= force m= mass a= acceleration Show calculations to support a point/assumption “Ignoring radiation” Show q for conv, cond, radiation

Interim Reports Feedback Do not refer to color in text “The red arrow”, “the blue line” Label instead Include a schedule This is interim, what’s coming next semester?

Interim Reports Feedback Write/speak professionally “After careful research..” “We diligently considered..” “We hope..” No Conclusions (yet) Status Summary Accomplishments Next steps
