Welcome – Introduction PCDO Webinar Welcome – Introduction Welcome to the Principal Candidate Development Opportunity (PCDO) Webinar. My name is Dr. S. Lachlin Verrett and I serve as the Senior for Leadership Development and the lead contact for PCDO. PCDO is a grow-your-own leadership development experience for aspiring campus leaders. The ultimate focus of PCDO is to grow and develop the knowledge, skills, and disposition of HISD aspiring principals.

Campus Leadership Selection Process Principal Pipeline/Pool Selection Process Master’s degree Principal or mid-management certification 3 years of assistant principal or dean experience 3 years of exemplary teaching experience Assistant Principal/Dean Pipeline/Pool Process Leadership roles at the campus level The School Leadership Selection Process has two designated pipelines: one for principals and the other is for assistant principals and deans. Eligibility for the Principal Pipeline/Pool Selection Process includes: a) Master‘s degree, b) Principal or mid-management certification, c) 3 years of Assistant Principal or Dean experience, and d) 3 years of exemplary teaching experience. Eligibility for the Assistant Principal/Dean Pipeline/Pool Process includes: a) Master‘s degree, b) Principal or mid-management certification, c) 3 years of exemplary teaching experience, and d) Leadership roles at the campus level.

PCDO Content Overview Instructional Leadership – ensuring every student receives high-quality instruction. Human Capital – ensuring there are high-quality teachers and staff in every classroom and throughout the school. Executive Leadership – modeling a consistent focus on and commitment to improving student learning. School Culture – establishing and implementing a shared vision and culture of high expectation for all staff and students. Strategic Operations – implementing systems that align with the school’s vision and improve the quality of instruction.
