Moodle All materials related to modules, assessments and lectures can be found on the Moodle site. In order to be enrolled on a module on Moodle, you need to make sure that you are enrolled on the module on Banner! Contact the module co-ordinators by the end of next week if you have not been enrolled. 4th Year You are now honours level Psychology students Marks from 3rd year contribute towards your degree classification. But all your marks from L10 contribute!

Degree Classification First class Mean mark of 70% or above OR Mean mark of at least 67% and a majority of the modules in the final year stage at grade A. Upper second class Mean mark of 60% or above OR Mean mark of at least 57% and a majority of the modules in the final year stage at grade B1 or better. Lower second class Mean mark of 50% or above OR Mean mark of at least 47% and a majority of the modules in the final year stage at grade B2 or better. Third class Mean mark of 40% or above Includes your 3 best marks from 3rd year alongside all your 4th year modules (different calculation if you are a joint student). BPS require a min of 2.2. in Diss (single honours only).

Career Planning Time to start thinking about your career after University, and what you can do now to make yourself more employable. Good degree classification. Voluntary work (particularly if you want to pursue a career in Psychology). Graduate attributes of a Psychology degree – e.g. research methods skills, critical thinking, communication skills. Communication When communicating with staff you must use your University email account. Emails from personal accounts often end up in our junk email folder and we do not read them. Use an appropriate subject heading, and provide your full name and banner number. Also indicate which module you are referring to! Emails should be polite and understandable, and should be clearly addressed to someone (i.e. rather than “Hi there” use the person’s name). I will respond to your email within 48 working hours, but I expect students to check their emails and to respond to emails within the same timeframe. Please note that I will just provide links to the handbook or website, if the information is available elsewhere. I will have weekly office hours, and I will deal with general queries then (i.e. in some cases my email answer will just refer you to that session).

Extensions Extensions of up to 1 week will be given in certain circumstances (e.g. ill- health). Extensions can only be granted by your year leader (not by the module co- ordinator) and must indicate 1) the relevant module, 2) the reasons for your extension request and 3) how long you need (up to one week). Appropriate evidence must be supplied to support your request (e.g. medical certificate). Extensions will not be given for any longer than 1 week. If you feel you will be unable to meet your deadline even with a week long extension then you should apply for mitigation. If you have not been given an extension then you will have a 10% penalty applied. No coursework will be accepted after this 1 week period. During the resit diet no extensions are given, the deadline issued is the final deadline by which work can be submitted, no work will be accepted after this deadline. Extensions won’t be given for lost usb sticks or failure of computer equipment. Make sure you have multiple copies. Requests for extension should be sent 24 hours prior to the deadline! Only in exceptional cases can you ask for an extension on the day (reason for extension occurred on the deadline day).

Attendance If you are absent for any reason please ensure that you inform the module co-ordinator. In certain circumstances, failure to attend a module could result in non-progression at end of the academic year (in case of unauthorised absences). Attendance is now monitored via Banner and letters are sent out automatically). If you are absent for a long period (i.e. more than a week) for authorised reasons, you will need to provide a medical certificate and inform the year leader as well. Please familiarise yourself with our attendance policy. Non engagement (RA) – no resit attempt.

Personal Tutors Your personal tutor will be your dissertation supervisor. . You should meet up with your personal tutor during the first 3 weeks of semester. Same role as in previous years. Additional point of contact – most questions can probably be answered by the year leader. However, most questions can also be answered by reading the handbook or consulting the uws website. However, you need to attend these meetings as your tutor will be able to provide a reference for you!

Student Reps We need to have at least 3 student representatives in 4th year 1 from the BA route 1 from the BSc route 1 from the joint route This is an important position Attendance at student-staff liaison group meetings, representing your class mates views. If you are interested please email me.

Extenuating circumstances. Extenuating circumstances are defined as adverse circumstances which have led to non-attendance at, non-submission of or impaired performance in one or more assessments. Where you believe your performance in an assessment has been adversely affected by extenuating circumstances, such as an illness, then you can submit an EC Form.
