When order of operations matters Ways to show adding (and subtracting) integers An integer is a positive or negative number that can be written without having to use a fraction Addition: No 10+2 = 2+10 Subtraction: Yes 10 – 2  2 - 10 Multiplication: No 10 x 2 = 2 x 10 Division: Yes 10  2  2  10 Number lines: Positive numbers move to the right on the number line Negative numbers move to the left on the number line
